He likes action movies, as well as fantasy, war and horror films; specially those involving special effects and fighting scenes.
Robert Figueras is the Director of ‘Panzer Chocolate’, the first interactive and Transmedia feature film, a movie that aims at providing a new form of entertainment to the audience, by inviting them to have an active role in the experience.
In 2011 he directed ‘Treasure Hunt’, a mystery and adventure series (10 episodes of 3 minutes each).
In 2010, he collaborated in the organization of a Transmedia Masterclass at the 58th edition of the San Sebastian Donostia Zinemaldia International Film Festival. Since then, he has been an active member of the Transmedia community in Spain.
Between 2009 and 2010, he directed ‘The Last Days of General Alvarez de Castro’, and ‘Simonet, the Terror of the French’ (co-director), a couple of documentary short films funded by the Spanish Ministry of Defence.
He lived in London from 2001 to 2007, where he graduated from the New York Film Academy in 2004, and where he completed the ‘9 Point Producer Course’ by the New Producers Alliance.
During his 6 years living and working in London, he directed several independent music videos, viral videos and short films. Moreover, he worked extensively in over 40 productions, as a director of photography and other crew positions; in feature films, documentaries, music videos, commercials and short films; for production companies like Partizan, Black Dog Films, Flynn Productions, @ radical.media, Amarillo Films, Gas & Electric, Draw Pictures, Manifesto Films, Green Lions, BBC and Pretzel Films; and for/with people like Michael Apted, Madonna, Linda Hamilton, Jonas Akerlun and Gary Sinyor.
Furthermore, Robert Figueras holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from ESADE University (Spain, 1993-1998).
Before becoming a filmmaker, he spent 4 years working in Corporate Finance Investment Banking, for Merrill Lynch and ABN AMRO; and he also has some previous experience working for General Electric and Danone.
He is the co-founder of Filmutea, a production company that specializes in developing, producing and distributing Transmedia experiences. Moreover, it manages an online community of over 47,000 Spanish filmmakers, and offers consultancy services as well as creative and production assistance to other companies, brands and entities interested in Transmedia and online communities. Clients: Sony, Panasonic, Sony Music, MoFilm, We Art Water Film Festival, Martini, Catalan Open University, etc.
